Red Mountain Pass, Colorado
This panorama was taken after a 20”+ snow storm while I was backcountry skiing on Red Mountain Pass, which lies between Ouray and Silverton. The terrain only looks like this after a long winter of snow. This was taken in early April when the snow has filled in so much that it creates a smooth, velvety snowscape. The air is so still with large chicken feather flakes of snow falling all around, a certain quietness that seems to engulf all of your senses and makes you stop in your tracks to take in this wonderful moment in time. I love how the mountains are peaking through the background of falling snow. A true capture of the moment because once the sun comes out or a stiff breeze blows the snow off the trees, this moment will seem to of never existed. Making me appreciate that every storm is so unique plus I got to ski waist deep powder a few moments later.
This image uses 10 vertical images stitched together to create this creamy black and white panorama.
